The first meaning relates to the competency of the hospital staff who appear on the show. If you were to walk into a hospital you may not want some of the characters on the show to tend to you. Their low level of competency makes the characters "Scrubs."<br /><br />Another meaning of the word "<a href="http://scribbidyscrubs.com/" target="_blank">Scrubs</a>" comes from the <a href="http://scribbidyscrubs.com/" target="_blank">medical uniforms</a> worn by the hospital staff. Those uniforms are affectionately referred to as "Scrubs" by most people in the medical profession.<br /><br />There are a number of different types of scrubs that doctors and nurses wear.
